Bring your character sheet to class!

Do not miss this class unless you plan to take this course again next academic year!!!!

Come up and talk to me during the game as your character. Yes, this is a TEST!

Make Sure you do the following before class:

  • Read you character sheets carefully. You should be able to understand what you need to do in the activity. If you have questions about what you need to do or what your motivations are, feel free to contact me.

  • Your character sheets are SECRET! Do not show them to your classmates. If you want, you can discuss your character with the person from the other class who has the same role. But don't show your sheet to other people.

  • If you want to get a head start on the game, you can talk to some of your classmates as if you really are the characters you will play. Don't try to accomplish your secret goals (well maybe you can just send out some preliminary feelers); instead, just concentrate on chatting about general topics, catching up with old friends, and getting to know the characters that you have just met.

  • Consider how you would act if this were a real social situation and you were meeting these people for the first time. Maintain good social etiquette. Don't do anything rude. (Unless you are supposed to be a really rude character.)

  • Items: If you want to have a special item, prepare props. You can bring the actual item, like a camera, or sunglasses, or an AK-47. Or you can bring a convenient pocket-sized card with a picture and description of the item you possess. Get any extra special or unusual items that are not on your character sheet approved by a director.

  • Combat: Sometimes conflicts occur that you cannot resolve through discussion. If this happens and you need to fight, we will use Rock, Paper, Scissors. Each of your characters has a Combat Level. THIS IS HOW MANY TIMES YOU CAN LOSE BEFORE YOU ARE DEFEATED. So if I am Combat Level 3 and you are Combat Level 1, you have to beat me three times to win. However, I only need to beat you one time to win.

  • If you are defeated in combat, you are at the mercy of the winner. The winner can tie you up, kill you, take all your money, push you in the swimming pool, feed you to sharks, ... whatever the winner can imagine doing to you. However, please inform one of the directors before you do something as drastic as killing another character. We will need to supervise the execution.

  • You regain your original Combat Level whenever you begin a new fight.

  • Costumes: Please consider what you would wear if you really were the character. I encourage you to come in costume. (Yes, bonus points!) Dress appropriately for the following setting:

  • The Setting: You are at the Polynesian Celebration. This is a big room with a big stage and many tables. Hotel guests can have dinner while watching a wonderfully entertaining show. It is 9:00 p.m. Aubrey Callistrian's amazing magic show is just ending. Gwenyffer Dance's beautiful musical performance is going to start soon.

  • HAVE FUN! HAVE FUN! HAVE FUN! HAVE FUN! HAVE FUN!
